GREAT AMERICAN SMOKE OUT ACTIVITIES PLANNED FOR NOV. 17, 2011

Jeffersonville, Ind. – The Clark County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coalition sets plans to participate in the Great American Smoke Out Challenge on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011.

“The Great American Smoke Out is a day set aside to encourage people to quit smoking,” says Annie Reiss, coordinator for the Clark County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coalition.  “Encouraging people to quit for just one day is a great stepping stone to quitting smoking for a lifetime.”

Assistance programs are available for individuals who want to quit.  Information is available 24/7 by calling 1-800 QUIT NOW or online at www.ucanquit2.org.

The Clark County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coalition will host an information booth on Thursday, Nov. 17 during the Great American Smoke Out.  The booth will be in the main lobby of Clark Memorial Hospital from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Free Quit Kits available while they last, as well as coupons and information on assistance programs.

“Walk Away for a Day” is the theme of this year’s Great American Smoke Out.

“It is our hope that if we can help smokers walk away for even just one day, they will see that smoking doesn’t control their lives and that they can quit for a lifetime,” says Reiss.

For more information, stop by the booth on Nov. 17 or call (812) 285-5877.
