About the Coalition

The Coalition is comprised of a variety of individuals, businesses and community organizations that are dedicated to reducing tobacco dependency, exposure to secondhand smoke, and youth initiation of smoking in the county. It is funded by Master Settlement Agreement monies granted by Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation (ITPC), Indiana’s agency charged by statute with management of the state’s tobacco control programs. For more information about the Coalition call 812-283-2649 or visit www.cleanairforclarkco.com. To contact ITPC, call 317- 234-1787 or visit www.whitelies.tv.

Smoking and Spit Tobacco Cessation

The Coalition offers FREE smoking and spit tobacco cessation programs. Cessation classes are held regularly at Clark Memorial Hospital’s main campus in Jeffersonville and occasionally classes at other hospital-owned and operated facilities, such as the Charlestown and Henryville primary care offices.

Through a special arrangement with the Clark County Health Department, the first 10 class participants may receive their choice of a one month supply of nicotine replacement patches or a $40 voucher toward the purchase of Chantix ™, a prescription medication specifically formulated to assist smokers in quitting.

One-on-one consultation and coaching - in person or by phone - is also available for individuals who are unable to attend group cessation programs.

CCTPCC also offers on-site cessation programs for business throughout Clark County, on a fee for service basis.

Policy Advocacy

Tobacco places a tremendous social and financial burden on the citizens of Indiana. By providing resources and assistance with implementation of smoking policy changes and benefits for cessation, the Coalition helps forward-thinking employers who want to reduce their health care costs, boost productivity and assist employees to achieve and maintain optimum health.

The Coalition also encourages and works with community leaders in formulating and implementing ordinances and policies that eliminate smoking from places of employment and public places, thereby protecting workers from exposure to secondhand smoke in their workplaces.
