
The Lois A. Kratz Health and Wellness
Center houses a gym where people of all types can workout on their
own or exercise under the supervision of a certified fitness
trainer. The state-of-the-art facilities provide cardiovascular,
weight-bearing, non-weight-bearing, and resistance training. The center is available to anyone who wishes to improve
his/her health, regardless of fitness level or current health status,
such as those who might be recovering from surgery or an illness.

The Wellness Center is open Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. - 7
p.m. and Friday from 6 a.m. -6 p.m. It is closed on weekends and holidays. Membership is $30 per
month. Membership includes body fat analysis,
weight checks, health assessment interview and initial exercise
program. Personal trainers are available at all times for
assistance. Shower facilities and lockers are available at no

Clark Memorial Hospital is here to help you in your quest to lose weight
and live a healthier life. With guidance and support you can accomplish
anything - even losing weight. Participants will receive Body Fat
Analysis with calibers, waist and hip circumference measurements, a
3-minute step test and flexibility screening, food and exercise journal
with weekly review, weekly weigh-in and one-month membership to the
Wellness Center Gym. The fee for the program is $80.

In addition to exercise programs, the Lois A.
Kratz Health and Wellness Center offers a variety of screenings to the
public throughout the week (no appointment is necessary):
* Blood pressure (free)
* Weight check (free)
* Body fat analysis ($20
fee)
* Three minute step test for aerobic fitness level ($20 fee)
* Flexibility assessment (includes instruction on
proper stretching techniques), ($30 fee)
* Personal training sessions for non-members - $30
per session (must pre-schedule).
All the above are available Monday - Friday from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.

In addition to the gym, the Lois A. Kratz
Health and Wellness Center houses the following: The Diabetes Self-Management Program
Accredited by the American Diabetes Association,
the highly successful program is staffed by health care professionals
with special diabetes expertise who work with you and your family to
help control your diabetes. Call for more information on the
physician-recommended program. The Diabetes Management program has
extended hours on Tuesday for patient convenience. For more information

For individuals living with diabetes, challenges are everywhere.
Learning to cope with these everyday struggles is hard, but others share
in those challenges and provide support and comfort. The Diabetes
Support Group at Clark Memorial Hospital offers support, education and
fellowship among people with diabetes and their families. Meetings are
held in the Lois A. Kratz Health and Wellness Center Conference Room.

Insulin resistance can lead to diabetes and cardiovascular disease,
two of the most deadly diseases in the U.S. This class will help explain
the function of insulin on your body. Insulin resistance can be
controlled through diet and exercise, helping you reverse the problem
and become proactive in taking care of yourself. Risk factors for
insulin resistance include being overweight or obese, participating in
little or no physical activities, being over the age of 40, having high
blood pressure and cholesterol, being in a high-risk ethnic category;
having a family history of type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure,
having glucose intolerance, and having a history of gestational diabetes
or history of delivering a baby over 9 lbs. This two-hour program is
taught by a registered dietitian/certified diabetes educator, and a

FREE Stop Smoking Successfully Classes
A certified Quit Smart™ facilitator addresses nicotine, emotional and
social triggers in a supportive group environment. The first 10
participants in each class will receive their choice of free one-month
