When it comes to breastfeeding a newborn, many moms aren’t sure where to begin. The Breastfeeding Center at Clark Memorial gives expectant and new parents a place to go for breastfeeding classes, consultation with a lactation specialist, and equipment, when needed.
One-On-One Breastfeeding Consultation
Our certified lactation consultants are available for one-on-one consultation before and after the birth of your baby. For expectant mothers, your consultant will help you determine your readiness to breastfeed and give you information and instruction on proper breastfeeding methods.
Once your baby is born, your lactation consultant will continue to guide and support you, helping you address any breastfeeding problems that may arise such as latch-on, sore nipples or low milk supply.
When it’s time for you to go back to work, your lactation consultant is available to speak with your workplace on how to become more breastfeeding friendly.
Our certified lactation consultants are available to assist you Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Breastfeeding Basics Class
This monthly class for expectant mothers provides basic information on breastfeeding and proper breastfeeding practices as well as discussion of common problems faced by new mothers. Fathers are welcome and encouraged to attend.
