Clark Memorial Health activates facility’s emergency operations plan in response to Novel Coronavirus (COVID–19)

March 13, 2020

Jeffersonville, Indiana (March 13, 2020) – Clark Memorial Health is committed to providing the highest quality care and ensuring the safety of our patients, employees, providers, volunteers and visitors. We are continuing to work closely with Clark County Health Department and following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure our hospital is prepared with the appropriate plans to detect, protect and respond should anyone in our community contract or be exposed to the novel coronavirus (COVID–19).

We have standard operating procedures that are in place year-round to help ensure the health and well-being of everyone who enters our hospital. Additionally, we have activated our facility’s emergency operations plan and are completing a number of preparation checklists out of an abundance of caution.

All patients and visitors in the Emergency Department and inpatient units will receive a screening questionnaire prior to being allowed to move through the hospital. Questionnaire stations are located at the Emergency Department, Main Lobby and Outpatient Surgery entrances. In addition, our medical office locations are calling patients and conducting phone screenings. If you are visiting Clark Memorial Health, or any of our facilities, we ask that you help us maintain a safe environment for everyone by following all posted guidelines for visiting patients. We are temporarily adjusting our general inpatient visitation policies to protect patients, staff and the community. Click here for the latest.

The Clark County Health Department is working with Clark Memorial Health to implement an extra layer of safety against spread of COVID-19, while screening patients for the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. Isolated screening can limit exposure to other patients and critical healthcare staff; therefore, a mobile testing unit has been placed outside of our Emergency Department to help us achieve this goal.

We want to assure our community that our providers and clinical teams are willing, well-trained and prepared to manage outbreaks of viruses and infectious diseases, including the coronavirus. For more information, text HEALTHINFO to 888-777 for up-to-date information or visit the Clark County Health Department website at clarkhealth.net.
