Quality and Cost Information
Good information helps you make good decisions about the health and health care needs of you and your loved ones. Together with the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA), Clark Memorial Health embraces transparency of hospital quality and price. We believe making this data available to the public leads to more informed patients and more confidence in the health care system.
Cost Information
Hospital billing is complex and based on many factors such as staffing, equipment, maintenance costs and the differences in care needed by each patient. Additionally, hospitals are prepared with doctors, nurses and high-tech equipment around the clock for illness or injury from a twisted ankle to a major accident. Every patient’s case is special and requires different levels of care.
Hospitals are often not paid in full for the services they provide. Medicare and Medicaid generally pay less than the actual cost of caring for patients. There are also patients who, unfortunately, can’t pay their hospital bills. Each hospital has different proportions of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance or uninsured patients, which adds to the complicated nature of hospital billing.
Every insurer, whether Medicare, Medicaid or commercial, pays the hospital differently.
PLEASE NOTE: When you receive a bill from Clark Memorial Health, it is for hospital services only. You may receive a separate bill for physician fees charged by the anesthesiologists, pathologists, emergency room physicians or radiologists. If you receive a separate bill, please contact that specific provider directly.
